General Details

The LITTLE fob makes an excellent "valet breakaway", for a key you might regularly remove from your keyring.  The BIG variety is a beast!  It can be used the same way as the little one, and is also a good fidget toy, desk-object, or gift; one side for a you and one side to give a friend.  

I designed both fobs based on traditional marine hardware.  This kind of mechanism is also referred to as a gangent hook, kissing clip, or brummel hook. When I was a kid my father first showed me how to make them using bolt cutters and chain links. The sides pass through each other when the slots are lined up precisely perpendicular to each other. It takes a little practice at first, and soon becomes natural.
