Sister Clasp Necklace, Brass

$55.00

Based on traditional marine hardware. 3D printed master. Lost wax cast in California and hand finishing in house. The sides can pass through each other when the slots are lined up precisely perpendicular. This kind of mechanism is also referred to as a gangent hook, kissing clip, or brummel hook. When I was a kid my father first showed me how to make them using bolt cutters and chain links. The brown, moss, and tan cords are marine grade machine braided nylon. The moss and thin brown are a smaller gauge that the brown and the tan.  I wax both in house. I hand dye the brown and moss cords before waxing.  The tan cord is pigmented rather than dyed and will fade to a pale grey color over time.  The indigo and dusty rose cord is 100% cotton.  Both are dyed to spec here in Maine. Like raw denim, the indigo cord will bleed somewhat during the first week or two of wear, and will fade significantly over time.  The dusty rose does not bleed, but may fade. Lengths are approximate, and include the lengths of the clasps. If you would like a different length (up to 30”) please leave a note at checkout.
