Sister Link Bracelet, Braided Cord, Shibuichi

Sister Link Bracelet, Braided Cord, Shibuichi

Inspired by the links of an anchor chain and the innovations of marlinespike ropework. Sand cast by hand from a 3D printed master. The sides can pass through each other when the slots are lined up precisely perpendicular. When I was a kid my father first showed me how to make this kind of mechanism using bolt cutters and chain links. The cords are hand braided, and spliced to the clasps.  The splice is one that I developed specifically for use with this braid.  The cotton variants are spun here in the USA, and hand dyed in Portland by PortFiber.  The tarred nylon option is pigmented rather than dyed, and fades like raw denim with wear.   This piece is fine to wear in the water and is intended for continuous wear.  All variants will fade somewhat over time, and may stretch slightly.

Fits wrist circumference
